2027 APC TO CAMPAIGN ON ACHIEVEMENTS NOT PROMISES YARI SAYS

APC Presidential Campaign Council Director General Abdulaziz Yari says the party's 2027 campaign will focus on President Bola Tinubu's achievements rather than fresh promises or attacks on political opponents. Yari made the remarks following a meeting with Governor Dauda Lawal and traditional leaders in Zamfara State.
The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council says its campaign for Nigeria's 2027 presidential election will focus on the achievements of President Bola Tinubu's administration rather than fresh promises or personal attacks against political opponents.
Director General of the campaign council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, disclosed this in Gusau, Zamfara State, following a closed door meeting with Governor Dauda Lawal and traditional leaders in the state.
Yari said the APC intends to run an issue based campaign centred on what the Tinubu administration has accomplished and what the party plans to do if given another mandate by Nigerians.
The former Zamfara State governor argued that Nigeria had survived several difficult periods despite predictions that the country could break apart.
"Nigeria is a wonderful country. We have been seeing so many things which some predicted that Nigeria will not continue as a country, from June 12 to others. This is where we are. Nigerians continue to ensure this country remains a united country," Yari said.
YARI BACKS TINUBU'S RECORD
Yari described President Tinubu as a leader committed to Nigeria and said the campaign would present the administration's record to voters.
"Tinubu is beyond any other person. He is for Nigerians, and a leader that loves this country without any fear of contradiction," he said.
According to Yari, the APC's strategy will differ from a campaign built primarily around new pledges, with the ruling party instead expected to highlight policies and projects implemented during Tinubu's first term.
The approach places the administration's performance at the centre of the APC's reelection campaign as Nigerians prepare to assess the government's record at the ballot box.

TRADITIONAL LEADERS IMPORTANT TO CAMPAIGN
Yari said his first official engagement as Director General involved traditional rulers because of their influence and close relationship with communities.
Although traditional rulers are not partisan political actors, Yari said their support and blessings remain important as the campaign begins its engagements across the country.
Governor Dauda Lawal said the meeting was organised to formally present Yari to traditional leaders following his appointment to lead the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
"It is important for us to hand him over to them to seek for their support. This is the reason for the meeting," Lawal said.
The governor also pledged strong support for Tinubu's reelection campaign in Zamfara State, saying the president would receive the backing of the state's people in the 2027 election.
The APC's decision to campaign on the administration's record sets the stage for a contest in which Tinubu's performance in office is expected to feature prominently as both the ruling party and opposition candidates seek to persuade voters ahead of the election.
