33 YEAR OLD NIGERIAN MAN ARRESTED OVER ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT OF TWO FEMALES, INCLUDING UNDERAGE GIRL IN CANADA
A 33 year old man identified as Olusegun Onidare has been arrested and charged in Canada following two separate alleged sexual assaults involving a woman and an underage girl in Brampton, Ontario.
A 33 year old man identified as Olusegun Onidare has been arrested and charged in Canada following two separate alleged sexual assaults involving a woman and an underage girl in Brampton, Ontario.
Peel Regional Police announced the arrest on Wednesday, September 2, following an investigation into two incidents reported on Monday, August 31.
According to police, the first alleged assault occurred around noon while a woman in her 20s was shopping at a mall in the area of Dixie Road and Clark Boulevard.
Investigators allege that a man unknown to the woman approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her.
The woman managed to push the suspect away, leave the area and contact police.
Later that same day, at approximately 1.50pm, a girl under the age of 18 was waiting for a bus at a transit terminal in the area of Central Park Drive and Queen Street East.
Police allege that the same suspect approached the girl and began asking her a series of personal questions before sitting beside her.
When the girl attempted to leave, the suspect allegedly sexually assaulted her.
She managed to get away and immediately contacted police.
PUBLIC TIP LEADS TO ARREST
Following the two reports, investigators released an image of the suspect and appealed to members of the public for assistance in identifying him.
According to Peel Regional Police, a member of the public recognised the man pictured in the police appeal and contacted investigators.
Police subsequently arrested Olusegun Onidare, 33, who authorities described as having no fixed address.
Onidare has now been charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of breach of a probation order.
Police said he was held for a bail hearing.
Investigators are also asking anyone with information about the incidents, or anyone who believes they may have experienced a similar encounter, to contact Peel Regional Police.
The charges against Onidare are allegations and have not been proven in court. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
