Nigerian superstar Burna Boy has been announced as the headline performer for the halftime show at the NFL's first regular season game in France.

The Grammy Award winning artist will perform at Stade de France in Paris on October 25 when the Pittsburgh Steelers face the New Orleans Saints in the 2026 NFL Paris Game.

The NFL confirmed Burna Boy's appearance as part of its expanding international entertainment programme, which will feature a record seven halftime shows across seven countries and four continents during the 2026 season.

BURNA BOY RETURNS TO STADE DE FRANCE

The performance will bring Burna Boy back to a venue where he previously made history.

In April 2025, he became the first African artist to headline Stade de France.

His return for the NFL Paris Game gives the Nigerian star another major international platform and places African music at the centre of one of the league's biggest international events of the year.

Burna Boy said returning to the stadium was particularly meaningful following his previous performance there.

He said the NFL event would also give him an opportunity to represent African music before an international audience.

FIRST NFL REGULAR SEASON GAME IN FRANCE

The Steelers and Saints matchup will make history as the first NFL regular season game played in France.

The game will take place at Stade de France on Sunday October 25 and is scheduled to begin at 2.30 p.m. local time.

The event forms part of the NFL's continued international expansion as the league seeks to build its audience beyond the United States.

The league has previously staged regular season games in several international markets, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Ireland and Canada.

AFRICAN STARS TAKE CENTRE STAGE

Burna Boy is not the only Nigerian artist appearing during the NFL's international programme.

Ayra Starr has also been announced as a halftime performer for the NFL London Game on October 11.

Other artists scheduled across the international series include Ricky Martin, Pedro Sampaio, Cage The Elephant and Mexican rock group The Warning.

The NFL says its 2026 international programme represents its largest global season to date.

BURNA BOY'S GLOBAL RISE

Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, has become one of Africa's most internationally recognised recording artists.

His music blends Afrobeats and Afro fusion with influences from reggae, hip hop and R&B.

His album Twice as Tall won the Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album in 2021, while his international touring career has taken him to major arenas and stadiums around the world.

His selection for the Paris halftime show represents another high profile appearance for Nigerian and African music on a major global entertainment platform.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints will meet at Stade de France on October 25.

Burna Boy's full halftime performance will be broadcast live in France on France Télévisions and beIN Sports.
