ONE DEAD, SEVEN INJURED IN MASS SHOOTING AT HOUSE PARTY IN MASSACHUSETTS
One person has been killed and seven others injured following a mass shooting at a house party in Taunton, Massachusetts.
Police received multiple 911 calls at approximately 12:35 Sunday morning reporting gunfire and several people shot at a home on Weir Street.
When officers arrived, they discovered that a large gathering had been taking place at the property.
Investigators ultimately identified eight shooting victims, all believed to be in their early twenties.
22 YEAR OLD MAN KILLED
The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office identified the man who died as 22 year old Zirovick Depina of Brockton.
Depina was pronounced dead early Sunday morning.
Of the seven surviving victims, one remained in serious but stable condition.
Authorities said the remaining victims suffered injuries considered not life threatening.
Some victims were transported to hospitals by emergency services, while others reportedly left the scene and sought medical treatment independently.
INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY
Investigators returned to the property on Sunday as they attempted to determine exactly what led to the gunfire.
Several shell casings were reportedly recovered near railway tracks behind the house.
Taunton Police and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office are investigating.
As of the latest police update, no arrests had been announced and authorities had not publicly identified a suspect or disclosed a motive.
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Taunton Police Department.
