Nigerian dancer and entertainer Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, remains scheduled to appear before Snaresbrook Crown Court in London on September 15, 2026, as UK prosecutors confirmed that the sexual offence case against him remains active.

The confirmation comes amid widespread social media claims that the entertainer had been released from custody and that the complainant had withdrawn from the case.

The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed the status of the proceedings in response to an inquiry by PUNCH Online on Saturday.

"This case is still live, and Odinaka is still set to appear for a PTPH at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 15 September 2026," the CPS said.

A PTPH, or Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing, is a pre trial court proceeding at which matters relating to a defendant's plea and preparations for a possible trial are considered.

RELEASE STATUS REMAINS UNCLEAR

While prosecutors confirmed that the criminal case remains active, the CPS did not clarify whether Poco Lee is currently in custody or has been released on bail.

The distinction follows viral reports claiming that the dancer had been released from a UK prison.

Separate claims circulating online also suggested that the complainant had withdrawn from the case or that the matter had been settled outside court.

Those claims have not been confirmed by the Crown Prosecution Service or Snaresbrook Crown Court.

PUNCH Online said it had contacted the court seeking clarification on Poco Lee's current custody or bail status and was awaiting a response.

The latest confirmation therefore establishes that the case remains active and that Poco Lee is expected in court on September 15, but does not establish whether he has been released from custody.

POCO LEE FACES FIVE CHARGES

Poco Lee is facing five sexual offence charges in the United Kingdom.

The charges comprise one count of attempted rape, two counts of rape and two counts of assault by penetration.

Snaresbrook Crown Court had previously confirmed that the matter was scheduled for a plea and trial preparation hearing on September 15.

The court also confirmed that a reporting restriction had been imposed to protect the identity of the complainant under the Sexual Offences Amendment Act 1992.

CASE FOLLOWED UK VISIT

The proceedings followed Poco Lee's visit to the United Kingdom in August for the Davido and Friends event held at Crystal Palace Bowl in London on August 14.

Attention surrounding the case intensified after reports of his detention and subsequent court proceedings emerged.

More recently, speculation over his custody status spread across social media, with some online personalities claiming he had been released.

However, the latest response from UK prosecutors makes clear that any reported release should not be interpreted as meaning that the criminal proceedings have ended.

Whether Poco Lee is currently on remand or has been granted bail remains unconfirmed based on the information released by prosecutors.

Poco Lee has not been convicted of any offence. The allegations against him remain before the court and have not been determined.

His scheduled September 15 appearance is expected to provide the next significant development in the proceedings.
