PRESIDENT TRUMP ARRIVES IN IRELAND TO RED CARPET WELCOME AHEAD OF HIGH LEVEL TALKS
US President Donald Trump has arrived in Ireland for a two day visit, participating in an arrival ceremony in Dublin before meetings with President Catherine Connolly and Taoiseach Micheál Martin. Trump is also expected to attend the Irish Open in Doonbeg.
United States President Donald Trump has arrived in Ireland for a two day visit combining high level political engagements in Dublin with a planned appearance at the Irish Open in County Clare.
Trump participated in an arrival ceremony at Áras an Uachtaráin on Saturday before holding a courtesy meeting with Irish President Catherine Connolly.
The US president was also scheduled for talks with Taoiseach Micheál Martin at Farmleigh House as part of a series of engagements focused on relations between Washington and Dublin.
Although the trip includes presidential meetings and ceremonial honours, Irish authorities have not classified it as an official state visit.
Members of the Irish Defence Forces were expected to provide guards of honour during Trump's engagements with the country's political leadership.
HIGH LEVEL MEETINGS IN DUBLIN
Trump's meeting with Martin is expected to focus on the relationship between Ireland and the United States as well as major international issues.
Economic ties are likely to feature prominently, with the two countries maintaining extensive trade and investment links.
The president is also scheduled to address US Embassy personnel and business leaders at the US Ambassador's residence in Dublin.
Trump's visit has prompted a major security operation across parts of Dublin and County Clare, with restrictions introduced around locations included in the presidential itinerary.
TRUMP TO ATTEND IRISH OPEN
Following his engagements in Dublin, Trump is expected to travel to Doonbeg in County Clare, where he will attend the 2026 Irish Open at Trump International Golf Links and Hotel.
The president is expected to remain in Ireland through Sunday.
The visit comes at a significant moment for US Irish relations, with trade, investment and international affairs among the issues surrounding discussions between the two governments.
Trump's arrival has also attracted demonstrations from groups opposed to some of his administration's policies, with protests planned during his time in the country.
