Carte Blanche coming up: War without end

The Sunday, 06 September episode of Carte Blanche delves into the ongoing gang crisis on Cape Town’s Cape Flats, where decades of poverty, segregation and turf wars over territory, drugs and power have left communities trapped in violence.

Five months after the national government deployed the army to help tackle gang crime, the programme examines whether the intervention has made a difference on the ground.

Carte Blanche accompanies a parliamentary oversight visit, speaks to crime-fighting organisations and hears from gang members as it investigates whether the state is making progress in dismantling gangs that continue to terrorise communities across Cape Town.
