AFRICA CDC CALLS EMERGENCY HEALTH MINISTERS’ MEETING AS EBOLA SPREADS FROM CONGO TO KENYA AND NIGERIA
Africa CDC has called an emergency virtual meeting of African health ministers for October 28 as the Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak spreads across three regions of the continent. The disease remains widespread in the Democratic Republic of Congo and has now produced confirmed cases in Kenya and Nigeria, prompting growing concern over cross-border transmission and the movement of infected travellers before symptoms are detected. The meeting will focus on continental coordination, surveillance, support for affected countries, protection of frontline health workers and preparedness in countries that have not yet recorded cases.
