AUDI CEO FACES BACKLASH AFTER APPEARING WITH TRUMP AT GEORGIA CAMPAIGN RALLY TO ANNOUNCE $4 BILLION U.S. PLANT
Audi CEO Gernot Döllner is facing criticism in Germany after appearing alongside President Donald Trump at a Georgia campaign rally where plans for a roughly $4 billion Audi factory were announced. IG Metall says the appearance conflicted with Audi’s political-neutrality guidelines, which generally restrict political appearances close to elections, while Audi says management approved an exception and that the delegation attended solely for business reasons. The proposed plant could create about 4,500 jobs and produce up to 200,000 SUVs annually, but it still requires approval from Volkswagen’s supervisory board.
