BANK OF GHANA PROPOSES 30 DAY LIQUIDITY BUFFER AS ALL 23 BANKS COMPLETE POST DDEP CAPITAL RECOVERY
The Bank of Ghana has proposed a Liquidity Coverage Ratio requiring banks to maintain enough high quality liquid assets to cover projected net cash outflows during 30 days of severe financial stress. The minimum ratio would be 100 percent, with public comments on the exposure draft accepted until November 30. The proposal comes as Governor Johnson Pandit Asiama confirms that all 23 banks have restored compliance with regulatory capital requirements after 13 banks were pushed below required levels following the economic crisis and DDEP related impairments.
