TINUBU ASKS US COURT TO KEEP FBI AND DEA RECORDS WITHHELD
Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has asked a United States federal court to uphold the withholding and redaction of FBI and DEA records sought in an ongoing Freedom of Information Act lawsuit concerning historical US law enforcement records linked to him. Tinubu’s lawyers made the request in an amended response filed on October 1 in Aaron Greenspan v. Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys et al. before the US District Court for the District of Columbia. His legal team argues that the disputed information remains protected by privacy provisions under the Freedom of Information Act and the Privacy Act. The filing does not establish that Tinubu committed drug trafficking or any other criminal offence. The current dispute concerns whether portions of federal law enforcement records should remain withheld or redacted.
