CAMEROON SUSPENDS ISSA TCHIROMA’S OPPOSITION PARTY FOR THREE MONTHS AHEAD OF 2027 ELECTIONS
Cameroon’s government has suspended Issa Tchiroma Bakary’s Front for the National Salvation of Cameroon for three months, prohibiting party activities nationwide. Territorial Administration Minister Paul Atanga Nji says the measure relates to alleged calls for insurrection, violence and serious public-order disturbances connected to the disputed October 2025 presidential election. Tchiroma, who rejected Paul Biya’s declared victory and later went into exile in The Gambia, has not returned to Cameroon. The suspension comes as legislative and municipal elections are expected in early 2027, although no exact official polling date has yet been announced.
