CANADA AND ONTARIO ANNOUNCE C$9 BILLION SUPPORT PACKAGE FOR STEEL AND AUTO INDUSTRIES HIT BY US TARIFFS
Canada and Ontario have announced a C$9 billion support package for steel, automotive manufacturing and critical minerals as US tariffs continue to disrupt some of the country’s most important industrial sectors. More than C$5 billion will help steelmakers modernise factories and expand into domestic and non-US markets, C$2.5 billion will support auto and electric vehicle production, while the federal government will spend C$1 billion on infrastructure linked to Ontario’s mineral-rich Ring of Fire region.
