GHANA PRISONS SERVICE INVESTIGATES ALLEGED PLOT TO POISON CHAIRMAN WONTUMI
The Ghana Prisons Service has opened an investigation into allegations that inmates at Nsawam Medium Security Prison planned to poison former NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi. Prison spokesman CSP Abdul Latif says the allegation was brought to authorities by Wontumi’s spokesperson rather than directly by Wontumi, and the Service has not yet established that a poisoning attempt took place. Authorities say Wontumi is safe and have not confirmed claims that five inmates were transferred following the alleged incident.
