Europe has experienced a second consecutive weekend of major demonstrations as protesters in France, Italy, Albania, Portugal and Spain mobilized over a range of grievances including living costs, housing, education, pensions, corruption and public services. France recorded the largest protests, with the government estimating 410,000 participants nationwide and unions claiming nearly 800,000, while clashes resulted in almost 1,000 arrests. Italy saw renewed demonstrations and violence in several cities, Portugal police cleared a Lisbon housing camp, and Albania’s student-led anti-government movement continued into Sunday.
