FUGITIVE SON OF EX-PENSION BOSS MAINA FINALLY CAUGHT IN ABUJA YEARS AFTER JUMPING BAIL, DSS HANDS HIM TO EFCC TO FACE SEVEN-YEAR JAIL TERM
Faisal Abdulrasheed Maina, son of former Pension Reform Task Team Chairman Abdulrasheed Maina, has been arrested by the Department of State Services in the Karsana area of Abuja after intelligence indicated that he had returned to Nigeria. He was subsequently handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Faisal jumped bail during his money-laundering trial and was convicted in absentia by the Federal High Court in 2021. Although he was originally sentenced to a maximum of 14 years in prison, the Court of Appeal upheld his conviction in November 2022 but reduced the maximum concurrent sentence to seven years because he was a first-time offender.
