FBI STOPS CALIFORNIA REALTOR AT LAX AND SAYS SHE FILMED TAIWAN’S PRESIDENTIAL FAMILY FOR BEIJING
Wanying Zhang, an Irvine real estate agent also known as Heather, was arrested on 4 October as she prepared to fly to Shanghai. A criminal complaint says she and another person went to the Seattle area home of Lai Ting-yu, son of Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te, in September 2025, filmed the family and sent licence plate numbers on WeChat. Taiwan called it transnational repression. Zhang confirmed her name in court and offered no plea. The charge is unproven.
