TEACHER UNIONS SUSPEND STRIKE, ORDER MEMBERS BACK TO CLASSROOMS MONDAY AS GOVERNMENT PROMISES ARREARS PAYMENTS
GNAT, NAGRAT and PRETAG have suspended their nationwide strike and directed teachers to return to classrooms on Monday, October 12. The decision followed talks with the Council of State, Fair Wages and Salaries Commission and government. Promotion-related arrears for about 51,000 teachers are expected by October 16, remaining payments by the end of October, digital support allowance in November and professional development allowance in December. Negotiations on other outstanding issues will continue.
