JAMES GARDINER CALLS FOR GREATER SUPPORT FOR GHANAIAN FILMS, SAYS ‘IF A FILM IS GOOD, IT WILL TRAVEL’
James Gardiner, actor and Deputy Executive Secretary of Ghana’s National Film Authority, says Ghana’s relatively small population should not prevent locally produced films from becoming commercially successful internationally. Speaking on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, Gardiner said filmmakers must focus on quality while Ghanaian audiences provide stronger support, arguing that a good film can travel beyond its home market. Actress and producer Yvonne Okoro also criticised what she described as a tendency to judge Ghanaian films more harshly than foreign productions. MyJoyOnline
