MAHAMA REVEALS TALKS WITH EUROPEAN COUNTRIES OVER SLAVE TRADE REPARATIONS AS GHANA PUSHES FOR ARTEFACT RETURNS, DEBT RELIEF AND ECONOMIC JUSTICE
President John Dramani Mahama says Ghana is holding discussions with several European governments over reparatory justice for the transatlantic slave trade. The talks include the return of looted cultural artefacts and broader economic measures such as debt relief, while eventual financial compensation remains part of a wider African and Caribbean reparations framework. Germany and France are among the countries directly engaged, with Britain, the Netherlands, Denmark and Portugal also indicating willingness to participate. No direct compensation agreement has yet been announced.
