LAGOS WARNS RESIDENTS TO BRACE FOR EXTREME HEAT AS EL NIÑO, DRY SEASON PRESSURE BUILD
The Lagos State Government has warned residents to prepare for possible extreme heat as the state enters the dry season amid a strengthening El Niño climate pattern. Authorities say high temperatures could combine with dust, poor air quality and Lagos’ urban heat-island effect to increase health risks, particularly for children, elderly people, pregnant women, outdoor workers and residents with existing medical conditions. The government is advising residents to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity during the hottest periods, improve ventilation and watch for signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
