MOTHER AND CHILD KILLED AS TWO CONTAINER TRUCKS OVERTURN IN LAGOS
A mother and her child have died after two heavily laden 20-foot container trucks overturned at Mile 2 near Freeman Market, inward Apapa, Lagos. LASTMA rescue teams cordoned off the area, diverted traffic and used a crane and heavy-duty tow vehicle to remove the trucks and containers, while police secured the scene. The victims’ remains were taken to the Police Mortuary in Yaba. LASTMA has called for an investigation into possible mechanical defects, overloading, improper cargo distribution or driver negligence and renewed calls for strict roadworthiness and cargo-safety compliance.
