TRUMP ADMINISTRATION BACKS DOWN IN MEXICO AVIATION FIGHT AS U.S. FINALLY CLEARS NEW FLIGHTS FROM MEXICO CITY AIRPORTS
The United States has lifted restrictions that prevented Mexican airlines from launching new routes to American destinations from Benito Juárez International Airport and Felipe Ángeles International Airport in the Mexico City area. The decision follows negotiations over U.S. allegations that Mexico had failed to fully comply with the 2015 bilateral air transport agreement. Mexico has taken steps to address concerns involving airport capacity and slot allocation, allowing Washington to ease the restrictions. However, some U.S. oversight measures remain in place, including schedule-filing requirements and additional approval rules for certain operations.
