MUSIGA WARNS GHANAIAN ARTISTS AGAINST GLORIFYING CYBERCRIME AND ONLINE FRAUD
The Musicians Union of Ghana has warned artists against making statements, performances or social-media posts that could be interpreted as promoting online fraud, money laundering, romance scams, identity theft or other cybercrimes. MUSIGA President Bessa Simons said musicians retain the right to criticize unemployment, corruption and injustice but should not use those concerns to justify crime. The warning follows controversy over remarks made by Shatta Wale at ShattaFest on October 17, although the union’s caution applies broadly across the industry.
