COURT ORDERS EL-RUFAI TO ENTER DEFENCE IN ALLEGED RIBADU PHONE-TAPPING CASE
A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s no-case submission in his trial over the alleged unlawful interception of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu’s telephone communications. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik held that the DSS had presented sufficient evidence for El-Rufai to enter his defence on the five-count amended charge and adjourned proceedings until November 25. The ruling is not a conviction and does not establish that El-Rufai carried out the alleged wiretapping; he pleaded not guilty and remains entitled to challenge the prosecution’s case.
