NPP NATIONAL EXECUTIVE ELECTIONS BEGIN AS OVER 7,000 DELEGATES GATHER IN KUMASI
The opposition New Patriotic Party is holding its national executive elections today at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, with more than 7,000 delegates expected to choose the party’s national leadership. Detailed party figures put the delegate total at 7,163, while 46 candidates remain on the final ballot. The Electoral Commission is supervising the exercise, with 31 voting centers established inside the stadium to speed up voting. Between 3,000 and 4,000 police personnel have been deployed for security, traffic management and protection of delegates and accommodation facilities. The elections form part of the NPP’s wider reorganization as the party prepares for Ghana’s 2028 general election.
