SAMSUNG SHARES SLIDE DESPITE RECORD PROFITS AS AI SPENDING FEARS SHAKE GLOBAL MARKETS
Samsung Electronics shares fell more than 4% despite reporting record third-quarter revenue of approximately 195.3 trillion won and operating profit of 107.4 trillion won. South Korea’s KOSPI dropped about 2.6%, while the MSCI Asia-Pacific index excluding Japan fell roughly 0.7%. Investors were also reacting to Alphabet’s approximately 10% after-hours decline after heavy AI spending and negative free cash flow overshadowed strong revenue growth, while Microsoft gained around 3% as strong cash generation reassured investors.
