UK SANCTIONS 15 SUDANESE COMMANDERS OVER ALLEGED WARTIME RAPE, TORTURE AND ATTACKS ON CIVILIANS
The United Kingdom has sanctioned 15 Sudanese military commanders, militia leaders and security officials over alleged involvement in conflict-related sexual violence, torture and attacks on civilians. The targets include figures associated with the Rapid Support Forces, Sudanese Armed Forces and army-allied armed groups. The measures impose asset freezes and travel bans and were announced one year after the fall of El Fasher, where UK-funded investigators documented alleged systematic starvation and sexual violence. Britain has also pledged £15 million in new humanitarian and survivor support.
