IRAN EXEMPTS INDIA, CHINA, IRAQ AND QATAR FROM STRAIT OF HORMUZ RESTRICTIONS AS US BLOCKADE REMAINS IN FORCE
Iranian lawmaker Amir Hayat Moqaddam says ships from India, China, Iraq and Qatar are exempt from Iran’s Strait of Hormuz restrictions. He linked India’s exemption to medicine imports, China’s to political support, and said Indian and Chinese vessels pay transit fees while Qatari ships pass without charge. He did not clarify whether Iraqi vessels pay. The exemptions do not automatically override the separate US blockade of Iranian ports, and the eligibility rules and practical arrangements remain unclear.
