NISO EXPLAINS WHY NIGERIANS ARE GETTING FEWER HOURS OF ELECTRICITY AS GAS SHORTAGES AND LOW WATER LEVELS HIT POWER GENERATION
NISO says inadequate gas deliveries to thermal power plants and reduced water inflows into hydroelectric reservoirs are responsible for the latest decline in electricity generation across Nigeria. The shortfall has reduced allocations to distribution companies, resulting in fewer hours of electricity and increased load shedding. The Federal Government says it is engaging NISO, TCN and DisCos to address the operational challenges, but no specific date has been announced for the restoration of normal supply.
