TINUBU’S 2027 CAMPAIGN COUNCIL SPARKS APC UNEASE AS WIKE, SOLUDO AND ADELEKE TAKE KEY ROLES DESPITE OPPOSITION PARTY TIES
The inclusion of prominent opposition politicians in President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council is causing unease among sections of the APC. FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who remains in the PDP, has been appointed coordinator for Rivers State and the FCT, while APGA’s Chukwuma Soludo will coordinate Anambra and Accord Governor Ademola Adeleke will coordinate Osun. Some APC stakeholders say loyal party figures have been sidelined, while opposition candidates fear their leaders’ support for Tinubu could confuse voters and weaken their chances against APC candidates in legislative elections. The APC leadership says it deliberately sought support beyond the ruling party as part of a broader coalition for Tinubu’s re-election.
